Non-Replicative Virus Particles for Safe Neutralization Assays
Integral Molecular® Reporter Virus Particles (RVPs) are for scientists working to develop vaccines, antibodies, and other countermeasures against the world’s deadliest and most challenging viruses.

RVPs are non-replicative virus-like particles with surface proteins from a diverse range of viruses. They are a safe, ready-to-use substitute for live virus, ideal for infectivity and neutralization assays.

“There are some hurdles to running live virus neutralization assays. RVPs made it easy to triage leads across many viral variants. The luciferase RVP assay was very easy to run, and it helped us identify mAbs with neutralizing activity against all the variants we tried.”

What viral cores do you use in RVPs?
- Most of our catalog products, including SARS-CoV-2 RVPs and Influenza RVPs, are pseudoviruses built on a lentivirus core derived from HIV. This established and versatile platform allows us to quickly optimize and produce RVPs for many new viruses and variants.
- Flavivirus RVPs use own-virus proteins for the most authentic representation of virus behavior while still being non-replicating. To learn more about this pseudoinfective virus-like particle system, visit the Takeda case study.
- HIV and Rabies RVPs are pseudoviruses built on a distinctly bullet-shaped VSV core (from vesicular stomatitis virus). For certain viral surface proteins, the VSV system can yield a higher concentration than can be achieved with the lentivirus core system.
