Neutralization Assay Services

Do You Need Virus Neutralization Data for Your Antibodies?

Let us do the hard part. We have the facilities, the reagents, and the know-how to answer the most pressing questions about your antibodies. Work with us to save your team’s time, and get the data you need in as little as 4 weeks.
Antibodies and pseudovirus are mixed together in wells of a sample plate. Neutralizing antibodies bind to viral surface proteins and block infectivity.

Test Against Any Variant in Our Catalog, and Then Some

Our neutralization assays are functional, cell-based assessments using non-replicative Reporter Virus Particles. A cell-based assay offers insight into the characteristics of an antibody that impact its clinical usefulness.

We have the tools to immediately assess your antibodies’ neutralizing properties against a wide variety of strains. Our Reporter Virus catalog is extensive. And we’re continually updating it with the latest SARS-CoV-2 variants of interest, seasonal influenza strains, and additional viruses with high pandemic potential.

If you need data for a variant not in our catalog, we can make it for you—and then run it in a neutralization assay.

Popular Applications for Neutralization Assay Services

We do two types of neutralization assay projects. Neutralization Curve projects are for customers who want comparative neutralization data including NT50. Hits projects are a lower-cost option for customers who want to screen a panel of candidates for neutralizing activity.
Applications include the following:

Application Description
Hit screening Test a panel to identify candidates with neutralizing activity
Antibody profiling Characterize candidates for hit validation or lead selection; test for neutralization against a panel of viral strains
Breadth of neutralization Test an antibody’s neutralizing ability against multiple viral strains
Antibody cocktail screening Test neutralization ability for combinations of antibodies
Validating predictions Generate data for molecules predicted by AI or modeling that may have virus-neutralizing activity
Small molecule screening Test for viral entry inhibition

Case Study: SARS-CoV-2 Reporter Viruses Reveal Antibodies’ Breadth of Neutralization

A graph showing neutralization assay services, and viruses.

Two SARS-CoV-2 MAbs were tested for their ability to neutralize Reporter Virus Particles representing six viral variants. Each MAb showed a distinct neutralization profile.

Project Workflow

Before beginning a project, our experts work with you to understand your needs and develop a customized statement of work. Once the statement of work is approved, projects generally follow the workflow below.

As part of our commitment to quality, transparency, and timeliness, our team is available throughout the project to answer your questions. Should circumstances arise that could impact the project timeline, we will reach out with updates.

Once we receive antibodies or molecules, projects progress through three stages—experiment design and setup, neutralization assay completion, and data analysis—along with quality control checkpoints. Project deliverables include a report detailing neutralization or hits, and any data files used to generate the figures in your report.

SARS-CoV-2 antibody cocktail - immunome logo

Learn how Immunome used SARS-CoV-2 variant RVPs to test their antibody cocktail

Immunome was developing a three-antibody cocktail with broad neutralization potency and a goal of retaining efficacy as the virus evolves. RVPs enabled the team to test their antibody cocktail against a large panel of viral variants of concern.
